It seems that the last time I took PPP, I was just a kid. I have way more grey hair now in just a few years. I was fooled by NCARB's placing the exam as first on the list and decided to take it as the first ever ARE! As you can tell, I fell on my face. It took me several years to get back on my feet again.
Now that I am planning to take it again, I have gathered every material available to help pass these exams. That includes the Ballast, Kaplan, all the free notes by AREforum members and GANG CHEN's test guides. While some people here are not great fans of the consize content that GANG CHEN books have, I am sick and tired of reading the Kaplan fairytale. I mostly jump start my study with all the practice tests available, and that is what this guide does best. After the test you can check or discuss the result with your study group if you have one. This is how I generally start research into a topic, and then it leads onto more stuff.
I wrote the following while I was taking the CHEN practice test, so that I don't forget what I was thinking at the time:
In this practice test, I was able to analyze how the language of the question and the multiple answers can lead you in the wrong direction if you read them in a hurry. Hurry, you will have to! So better brace for the pattern. Chen repeatedly directed my attention towards the minor differences that can change the meaning of the sentence. I think (if I stop hating NCARB for a moment) the reason such language is used in the real test is because NCARB wants to prepare me for the time when i would have to take quick decisions on the contracts and other statements that would be written by me on the drawings and specifications and unfortunately won't pass through my kind hearted boss to correct.
