Rick Steve's guide to Italy is just published and updated for travel in 2014. Having been In Italy in 2013 and we are going back in 6 months, we know that the most updated info is so important. Also this book cover all the major sites. The fold out map has driving distances between the cities on one side and city maps of Rome, Venice, Florence and Siena on the other side. We also really liked the 15 pages of history tucked into the book. Rick Steve's tells you what you really need to know when traveling in Italy. The book is loaded with info, references with phone numbers, and lots of tricks of traveling on a budget. The book has different sections for each region, so it is easy to navigate through the book as you travel.

“Italy 2014” travel guide made by Rick Steves will be helpful for those who are planning to embark for the first time on adventure of travelling to this wonderful European country, but also people that have already visited Italy given the variety and amount of information offered.

The guide is divided into about 30 chapters covering the various Italian regions and the largest cities, which are certainly worth a visit, even though it’s a large country in European terms and to pass all over it you’ll need a few weeks at least.
The book comes with numerous color maps, a brief overview of the rich Italian history and a well-made index that will help you searching through the book when you are interested in finding something quickly.
The attached maps are made in a way that the numbers and letters on them mark the most important places in terms of shopping, landmark, transportation or other points of interest.

It’s convenient to emphasize that the text font used by author makes the whole guide getting casual look, an impression of book that it’s easy and interesting to read.

The author using his unpretentious and friendly style offers good advice about the places you should stay or restaurants where you can taste delicious meals.
Depending on number of days you plan to stay in Italy, he’ll help making the plan that will enable you to see and experience the most, all the time emphasizing what is worth (or not) your money and precious time.

Even though I was in Italy many times due to the arts, sports, shopping, business or tourist visits, this is the book I’ll take next time with me as it offers in one place a large number of useful and updated information even for someone who is quite familiar with this beautiful land.
