DK Eyewitness Travel always offers great photos in their travel guides. This one is no different except its point of view focuses on pleasing and accomodating the kids.
They do a great job breaking down every region of Italy with first a sightseeing key, listing the main cities and areas and then off you go to explore those areas. It's very entertaining, full diagrams, gorgeous shots, and maps. In the back of the book is further maps with a listing of selected towns, Rome maps(farily detailed), and basic language needs.
Just about every page has Kids Corner with things to do; the Lowdown on how to get around, the cost and kid appropriateness. Indeed, the perspective is geared to what you'll face with family in tow.
When we were B.C., before children, my wife and I travelled every Spring to Europe. It was easy to get around and do whatever, whenever, wherever we wanted, and on our time schedule and desires. That was ten years ago, and now with two youngsters, ages 5 & 8, we're longing to return. We've always loved Italy with their yummy food, great historic sites, romantic settings, beaches and mountains and rolling hills, and friendly, hospitable people. Give us great food and a few sites and we're happy!
