Initial Reaction: I bought this book so that I could easily look up stats on countries without having to go to the online CIA website each time. Since I live in Canada, this was the first country I looked up. Right away, it told me that the fertility rate in Canada was 59 children born/woman!! I looked it up on the online CIA Factbook, and of course the real statistic is 1.59 children born/woman. Having to double-check facts online defeats the purpose of purchasing a paper version of the Factbook - the editing should have been better, but hopefully this was the only error in the book.
Missing Information (compared to the online Factbook): I've noticed that the "Dependency ratios" and "Mother's median age at first birth" are missing from the "People and Society" category. There may be other sections that are missing, but since I use this book primarily for the "People and Society" facts, it bothers me that not all the sections are present.
Quality: Unfortunately, the quality of the paper has taken a toll in order to reduce the size of the book and presumably the price. My main concern with the paper is that there is no option for coloured pictures, and therefore this book of facts neglects the flags of every country! Personally, I feel happier reading books with high quality paper, and unfortunately it feels like I'm reading a boring dictionary with this book.
Content: Before you buy this book, go to the online Factbook on the CIA website, as the majority of statistics online are present in the book. However, not only are there some small sections missing, but the maps included in the book are so tiny that they are virtually useless.
