Praise for Photoshop's abilities, but curses on ease of use so I am always looking for help. Even though this book is for CC there are ways it helped me too. When I ordered the book I didn't realize it was for another version of Photoshop, but undeterred, I plunged forward. Perhaps if you do have CC the DVD starts right up, but I got nothing so I manually searched the CD using my Win7 File Explorer and found the .exe for the video lessons which played perfectly and are well done. The look of the screen in CC is somewhat different from Elements but much of the functionality is the same so I was still able to get a lot out of the lessons.
It was a little frustrating that the lessons are geared first for MAC users with 'and if you have a PC, do xxx' added in as an aside so every instruction seemed to take double time and could even be confusing at first. It was also a bit annoying that some of the instruction seemed geared for someone who could barely turn on a computer while other parts expect a fairly high level of comfort with the computer file system, etc. Since I struggle considerably with Photoshop's complexities and I'm experienced with computers and photo software, I doubt a neophyte is going to become proficient using this book or any other. There's just a huge amount to learn. I found the mixed instruction level just slowed me down.
All that said, however, I still got a lot of good information from the video lessons and the part of the book I've gotten through so far.
