I am building an addition onto our house and have limited experience. I purchased many books to learn what I need to know...and still had a lot of small questions that weren't answered in the more comprehensive books. Then I came across excerpts of this book on Google books. It is VERY well written, easy to understand, and filled with relevant photos. The author describes everything about the building process, including tool recommendations, layouts, framing, and TONS more. If you're on the fence about this book, I'd encourage you to scan through it on Google Docs...and then buy it. Definitely a great addition for those of us who aren't experts in this trade.

Tons of great pictures as well as very thorough, step by step instructions.
I can't wait to start my carpentry class this summer as I realize this book will help me merge the theory with the practical skills.
