Very seldom do I pick up a book to read other than the Bible. Most often I feel guilty if I have not read much of the Bible but then go and pick up a different "for pleasure" book, as if I've taken my focus off of God and placed it [once again] on myself.
I must also note that rarely am I challenged in my own faith by what I read in books outside the Bible, and so rarely do I find myself engrossed in daily devotions. I usually drift toward Psalms and Proverbs. I'm not a baby Christian, and I often feel as if devotionals talk at me, rather than to me, or with me.
What you'll find within its pages are not merely stories. They're not sermons, but they have more depth than some sermons I've heard. They're not simple devotions that will cause you to smile throughout the day, but they could be, if you're pressed for time. You'll find love in the pages, and you'll feel so close to it, you might feel like someone hugged you, or maybe even cry. You'll feel appreciated, understood, and invited into the hearts of women who don't just say they know what it's like, but really do know what it's like.
