Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives Description
Review
Jocelyn Green and the other writers in this book have connected to the hearts of military wives with compassion, grace and hearts full of mercy. These writers have been there and have brought to us as readers compelling devotions to connect us to the Lord, our spouse and the hope of a strong marriage during times of deployment. In all the work we have done in reaching out to military marriages, this resource, Faith Deployed: Daily Encouragement for Military Wives, is the best tool we have found for ministering to the spiritual needs of these heroic couples serving our great nation. --Dr. Gary and Barb Rosberg, America's Family Coaches and authors of

The messages of the Faith Deployed devotionals resonated with me greatly, on so many levels. As testified to by the contributing authors, we are all challenged with trusting in God's plan, being married to the military, and loving our community in spite of fear, doubt, and depleted emotional reserves. But only by doing the first, trusting God, can we do the rest (over and over again). This book reminds us--through wonderfully appropriate Bible passages--of specifically that point. It doesn't dismiss our hard times but gives us hope and instruction on how to break through. I'm excited for all those who needed such a book as this; who knows what new heights it can bring our relationships to, with God, our husbands, and our communities.

Very seldom do I pick up a book to read other than the Bible. Most often I feel guilty if I have not read much of the Bible but then go and pick up a different "for pleasure" book, as if I've taken my focus off of God and placed it [once again] on myself.
I must also note that rarely am I challenged in my own faith by what I read in books outside the Bible, and so rarely do I find myself engrossed in daily devotions. I usually drift toward Psalms and Proverbs. I'm not a baby Christian, and I often feel as if devotionals talk at me, rather than to me, or with me.
What you'll find within its pages are not merely stories. They're not sermons, but they have more depth than some sermons I've heard. They're not simple devotions that will cause you to smile throughout the day, but they could be, if you're pressed for time. What you'll find inside Faith Deployed are glimpses into the different gifts God has given to the body of Christ, dispersed throughout every military branch. It's obvious that the prayer lives of the women in it are strong, and probably even stronger since the book was published. Helps is evident, generosity, administration, encouragement, healing, hospitality, prayer, and even prophecy, just to name a few (which totally surprised me). The pages exemplify the kind of women you want in your life, and the God you really want to/need to serve. You'll read stories of mercy, jealousy, discontentment, glory, honor, worthiness, patience, joy, courage, and so, so much more. You'll find love in the pages, and you'll feel so close to it, you might feel like someone hugged you, or maybe even cry. You'll feel appreciated, understood, and invited into the hearts of women who don't just say they know what it's like, but really do know what it's like.
