I am a big fan of Truman Capote's swans - Babe Paley, Gloria Guinness, Jackie O, etc. Based on the cover photograph and the title of the book, I expected this book to be about the fabulous group of women from the 1950's. Sadly, there is very little in this book about the swans. The cover is the best photo of one of the 'swan's' than any other photo in the book.
The book is more about that time period - so there is many photos of places where the rich and famous of that time vacationed and partied, magazine articles,etc.- but very little about the swans. The husbands of the swans are featured more in this book than the women. I did not find the book interesting of informative.
If you are looking for something that will take you back to that time period and not so interested in the women of the time, then you might enjoy the book. But, if you want information about Capote's swans- you might do better with something else.

I knew this was going to be a record purchase for a coffee table book for me and it was. Fascinating look into a time when women dressed to impress. A book like this is meant to be read in bed on a cold rainy day with a nice glass of red wine and chocolates. (I am texting this while wearing jeans and a chambrey shirt with my hair in a not so neat ponytail.) I like books that show me a glimpse into another world and this book did that. Dreamy.
