I got this book to help me through my exam, and it did exactly that! The book is extremely well written and very easy to read. It is clear that the author knows exactly what they are talking about, and can explain it in a very understandable manner. After reading this book, terms that had gone straight over my head in class were suddenly accessible to me, and I understood the subject so much more clearly, which allowed me to do better in the test.
The large topics are broken down into smaller chunks that are explained in detail, and this really helps you understand the bigger picture. Whatever level you are at with Cisco, I really feel that this book would be helpful as it starts with the basics but does go into a lot of depth.
I often find `guide' books to be more hassle than they're worth - going off on tangents and such. However, I can safely say that I probably wouldn't have passed my exam, or have such a good knowledge of Cisco had I not took a chance on this book. The great thing about this book as well is that it's very hands-on. There are lots of ways to test yourself and you don't get bored just sat reading through large chunks of text. I think the flash cards are one of my favorite things.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is going to be taking the 640-911 exam and wants a bit of extra study help. Even if you're not going to be taking an exam, this great book can help you further understand Cisco, and is a great reference guide, that I'm sure I will keep going back too.
