At the end of this volume, and also in Volume 0, Matra reveals that Omamori Himari was originally planned as a 5 or 6 volume series. However, due to its popularity, Matra's editors asked him to extend it. We are now reaching the end and as usual with a story that I really like I'm both sad and looking forward to how Matra concludes it. Every good story must end at some point, even if I'd like it to go for a few more volumes. This volume is difficult to summarize without having too many spoilers, but I'll try. At the end of volume 10, Yuuto, Himari, and company have defeated Shuten-Douji, with Himari delivering the death blow. Before his death, Shuten-Douji delivers a mortal blow to Kuesu. Seeing him die, Tamamo-no-Mae flies into a rage and attacks Yuuto. Himari's dark side emerges and she, in turn, attacks Tama absorbing the evil energy stored in Tama from the ayakashi that she has eaten. The evil side of Himari, which Aiji Tsuchimikado and Kasuri Kagamimori briefly brought forth in volume 9, begins to fight with her good side, and she almost sexually assaults Yuuto in his sleep. This internal battle for Himari’s heart sets up the final confrontation with Yuuto in the next volume. Even more than in previous volumes, here we see a variety of ayakashi make sexual advances toward Yuuto. My favorite is when Aya, the spirit messenger, joins Yuuto in a pretty funny shower scene. At the end of the volume, Kasuri’s sister, Hisuzu, confronts Himari with the intent of punishing Himari for the evil which is consuming her. An exciting, moving, and great set up for the final volume. Those of you who have been following Omamori Himari for the past 6 years will not be disappointed with this volume. If you have not had the guilty pleasure of reading this manga, I highly recommend it, with the provision that you need to enjoy harem style mangas with plenty of sexual innuendos liberally sprinkled throughout a really good story. If you buy any volume in the series, it will be money well spent.
