For the record, I freaking love spiderman, he has been my favorite super hero since I was like 7, and it has never changed since. If you are not in the scene for whatever reason, this is quite simply one of the most important, influential, ground breaking comic book pieces not just for spiderman standards, but for ANY COMIC BOOK EVER MADE. This issue was groundbreaking for its time, and alot of people say that it ended the silver age of comic books (which was about late 70's) and paved the way to the fantastic golden age of comic books which was the 80's, and the 80's boasted amazing comic books like The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, all of those great classics, and spiderman paved the way for that. If you do not know why this comic book was so ground breaking, well this might be one epic spoiler that you shouldent read if you arent familiar with this comic piece, but if you dont care then here is the rundown. Gwen Stacy was spidermans first real girlfriend, she became an established character in a comic book series, which usually means she is going to stay alive throughout the series, at this point their love was at their peak and Peter was going to ask her to marry him and it would have been something typical. But stan put in messages like "This is an issue you are never going to forget" and things like that. So in this issue and the next one, the green goblin suddenly RETURNS ONCE again, and kidnaps Gwen Stacy, the love of Peters life. So you think he is going to save her right. Nope, the Goblin throws a bomb on the bridge causing her to fall, so at this point she is presumably dead, but thats not all, spiderman desperately trying to save her snaps her neck with the velocity of his web, so in one amazing issue, ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTER DIES, AND STAYS DEAD THROUGHOUT THE SERIES.
