This may be my favorite book I've read in the last 10 years. I love intelligent quotes, as 98% of these are. I find more insight, truth, knowledge contained in a single excellent 25 word quote than in many 500 page books. As an example, "you ain't gonna learn what you don't wanna know - Jerry Garcia" or "you are never too old to be what you might have been - George Elliot". How simple and yet brilliant are those two thoughts? I could spend an evening discussing those two with friends and have a wonderful conversation. And there are 999 more in the book. Great quotes are truth, wisdom and insight. They are the boiled down resin of intelligence and experience in a nutshell. I wish there was a sequel to this book, another 1000 would be extremely welcome. These quotes apply to all of us and all of our lives. A high school or college class teaching these, their real meaning and understanding would be fabulous and enrich students as much as any other class they might ever take. Five stars out of five. Great book.

I like this book because its quotes are from a wide range of sources, covering almost every culture, religion, nation, historical period etc. Each time I read it, I feel inspired and I also understand myself a little bit better.
